Student Philanthropy Summit-Tomorrow!

Monday, November 23, 2009 at 09:39PM Hey all,
When I was younger, I participated in a teenage philanthropy group at a local nursing home which distributed funds to different areas and programs of the facility. It was a really cool experience to learn about the field of philanthropy, and to understand the thought process that goes into raising and distributing money. While it may seem simple at first glance, it's a really tough process that takes a lot of time, discussion, effort, and consideration.
The Maryland Fund for Excellence is trying to understand what compels us to give or participate in philanthropic efforts. They are having the first ever Student Philanthropy Summit tomorrow, and you are invited to participate! It is from 6-8 pm in the Riggs Alumni Center in the 4th floor conference room. RSVP to Sonia at shuntleey@umd.edu or 301-405-7821. There will be a free dinner!
Take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn more about philanthropy and what the Maryland Fund for Excellence does! Also, free food never hurts...
