Searching for New Bloggers!

Monday, August 18, 2008 at 02:07PM The dog days of summer are upon us and that can only mean one thing – it’s almost time for the Fall Semester! I can’t believe how quickly the summer has rushed by (though I find myself saying that a lot lately). But the end of summer also means that the Terp Impact Blog is searching for new writers!
Let me back up a moment and introduce myself. My name is Tad Greenleaf and I’m the new Coalition for Civic Engagement and Leadership (CCEL) Graduate Assistant for 2008-2009.
In a nutshell, that means that Terp Impact has become my baby. I’m currently entering the first of two years of graduate school here at Maryland to earn my Masters in Public Policy. I’m taking the brave leap of starting directly out of undergrad (also here at Maryland) in Government & Politics and Economics.
I had a hand in quite a few different organizations in my time as a Maryland undergraduate. The pride of the bunch was my involvement in the Student Government Association which became my home away from home for all four of my undergraduate years. My incredible diverse experiences there – everything from programming large scale events to voter registration to lobbying to student fee review – really honed me into the civic engagement/leadership track and took me to the School of Public Policy and CCEL.
The thing I loved about SGA was that it was a way for me to make tangible, positive changes to the environment around me. And now, that’s what excites me so much about civic engagement. It’s a way to connect with your community on local, national, and global levels in a way that make us all better off. If that’s what gets you excited then we absolutely NEED you for Terp Impact.
We can offer $500 per semester to two bloggers who can add regular content to the site (approximately three posts a week each) that will captivate readers around civic engagement issues. We’re also looking for bloggers who would like to post occasionally. The Terp Impact blog is a way to bring new readers to the site, and keep previous visitors coming back again and again. While Terp Impact’s focus is on the Maryland student, I’d love for our bloggers to be from every corner of the community.
If you might be interested in blogging regularly, shoot me an e-mail at tadpole@umd.edu. If you’re not interested in blogging regularly, but might want to write a post here or there, get in touch too! Either way, keep checking www.terpimpact.umd.edu throughout the year for some great new updates.
